Many years ago, the ABC Network decided to bring the show Grey’s Anatomy to television, and it’s still on the air. While the show has had its fair share of ups and downs, it’s remained a fan favorite for well over 15 years, and it keeps bringing the heat. From hot doctors to steamy hookups and witty repartee, it’s a show that keeps on giving.
Many characters have been on Grey’s Anatomy for a handful of seasons. Some are new, and many have come and gone and come back for more. There are probably more famous guest stars and famous faces on this show than anywhere else, E.R. Fightmasteris one. The non-binary actor plays the character of Kai in Grey’s Anatomy. Here’s all there is to know about E.R. Fightmaster.
1. E.R. Fightmaster is Non-Binary
E.R. Fightmaster is non-binary, meaning that they don’t identify as male or female. Non-binary people are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and some consider themselves to be trans. Nevertheless, others think of non-binary as being a separate identity entirely.
It’s always important to recognize the terminology that an individual uses. Gender is a spectrum, and while many people identify with either the male or female ends of that spectrum, non-binary people are usually somewhere more in the middle. In some cases, they might not consider themselves to be part of the spectrum at all. Like many non-binary people, Grey’s Anatomy‘s E.R. Fightmaster uses they/them as gender-neutral pronouns.
2. They’re From The Midwest
E.R. Fightmaster hasn’t publicly discussed where they were born and raised. However, there’s a general idea out there. They called Ohio home for a long time. More specifically, they have lived in Cincinnati.
3. The Actor Graduated From College
Fightmaster is a college graduate with a degree in Women and Gender Studies from DePaul University. It took a handful of years of focus and studying to get it done. However, both graduation and entering the real world were a welcome treat for the actor.
4. They Happen To Dabble In Comedy
In addition to acting and attending college, Fightmaster also has a funny bone. They were a member of The Second City Touring Company as well as the comedy troupe Boom Chicago. Comedians are popular with fans, and Fightmaster’s role as a serious doctor in Grey’s Anatomy appears to be a departure for them.
5. Fightmaster Is In A Band
In addition to being educated, funny, and a talented actor, Fightmaster is also in a band. The band is called TWIN, and it has one more member, Mike Aviles. They released a single called Santa Clarita in 2022.
6. E.R. Fightmaster Is A Musician
Since Fightmaster is in a band, it only makes sense that they are a musician. Fightmaster isn’t just a singer in the band; they are also capable of playing a few instruments. Anyone who knows anything about music knows this is no small feat, but Fightmaster can play both the guitar and the piano.
7. Their Character In Greys Anatomy Is Also Non-Binary
In Grey’s Anatomy, Fightmaster plays Dr. Kai Bartley. It’s been made very clear that their character is non-binary, just like the actor. The show even asked fans to be respectful and use the correct pronouns for the fictional character when tweeting.
8. They’re Part Of A History-Making Moment
E.R. Fightmaster is excited because they’re making history on Grey’s Anatomy. The show has run for 20 seasons, and it is the first time they have ever cast a non-binary actor in a role. It’s also the first time the show has cast someone who is playing a non-binary character as well.
9. Things Could be Interesting for Dr. Shepherd
The character of Dr. Amelia Shepherd has been around for a long time now. Needless to say, she’s well-known and loved. She’s been through so much and been with so many men and had some truly epic romances in her life. However, there seems to be a rumor going around that sparks are flying between her and the new doctor in town.
