💃🚌🎶HAPPY TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY💃🚌🎶Today's Topic: Streetlight Data’s Ranking of Stadium Traffic Management for Taylor Swift Era’s TourAmerican singer-songwriter Taylor Swift began her Era’s Tour in March 2023, leading her to over 151 shows across five continents. Event operation poses a special challenge for transportation agencies, transit facilities, and stadium operators as the demand for roadway operations increases exponentially for a narrow time block. So, how well did stadiums and agencies manage concert-goers traffic? Streetlight Data analyzed the data of all non-local roadway segments within 1 mile of each stadium between the peak travel times of each concert. They found that vehicle delays increased by 90% across all stadiums compared to regular traffic times. Notably, NJ’s MetLife Stadium saw a decrease in average congestion over the three-day course as public transportation ridership was emphasized and carried over 80,000 riders. Continuing the conversation for creating/enhancing Dodger Stadium pedestrian path from Chinatown Metro Station here. I've created a slideshow to give some visuals on what that experience would be. Here's what the condition is today. There's a lot of economic development opportunity here to support local businesses on game/event days with potentially tens of thousands of people walking to the stadium to/from the metro station. I've driven, walked, shuttled, and ride shared to the stadium. Personally, if there was a better pedestrian experience, that would be my preferred way to get to the stadium with options for dinner/drinks before and after the game. Let's beat this drum until it's heard.**Adding to the original post - if there's an escalator similar to what they have at Universal Studios (the picture with the escalator with semi-circle canopy), the walk time would be less than 20 minutes. Every so often, a pickup shoot is required for commercials. One key to efficient pickups (or any shoot, really) is to ask yourself, "What does the camera see?" (A Jordan Brady classic #CommercialDirector voodoo tip). For this year's ReliaQuest spot, we needed two shots in our pickup. One was a busy city shot, the other was an over-the-shoulder phone shot that happens at a soccer game. No one wants a company move if we can help it, so we brought in a roll of turf, keeping our pickup at one location. Win-win!#advertising #Commercialdirecting
