The Kremlin's three-day "special military operation" to conquer neighboring Ukraine continues to prove a disaster, with a series of tremendous successes for Ukraine's brave defenders in just the last day. Ukrainian jet aircraft successfully struck a Russian military command post in Russia's Belgorod region, once again showing the impotence of Russia's once-vaunted air defenses. Ukrainian naval forces struck another Russian Ropucha-class landing ship in the Sea of Azov, either sinking or rendering a ship upon which the Kremlin relies to supply its forces in occupied Crimea unserviceable. Finally, the Ukrainian intelligence services reported using a drone to significantly damage one of Russia's few "fifth generation stealth jet fighters" (dubious characterizations) on the ground at an airfield nearly 400 miles from the front lines. In short, it was a "no good, very bad day" for dictator Putin and his minions.Ukraine is showing the entire world what a free people, yearning to cast off the yoke of totalitarian oppression, can accomplish through sheer will and international support. Now into its third year, Russia's unprovoked invasion of neighboring Ukraine has wrecked the Kremlin's military forces and laid bare the corruption and incompetence that runs rampant in Russia. Ukraine can and will win, but only with our continued support. Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with an American veteran from the D-Day invasion in Normandy earlier today, highlighted by an emotional moment in which the veteran hugged the president and thanked him as "the savior of the people". Ever gracious, President Zelensky assured the heroic veteran that he had helped save Europe from Nazi oppression.Both men are correct and are deserving of the accolades they have received. Just as the unnamed American veteran helped defeat Hitler's tyrannical forces that had conquered most of Europe by 1944, President Zelensky has led his brave country during the largest land war in Europe since WWII. Now the heroic Ukrainian defenders are holding back the tide of Russian genocidal imperialism. 🛢💥The Russian oil industry, already reeling under international sanctions, low prices, and widespread attacks against its infrastructure, suffered dual blows last night with successful drone strikes on refineries in Novoshakhtinsk (Rostov Oblast) and Starooskolsky (Belgorod Oblast). These videos demonstrate the effectiveness of Ukraine's counterstrikes against the lifeblood of the Russian war machine, which is now in the third year of its genocidal "special military operation". Once described by the late, great Senator John McCain as "a gas station masquerading as a country", the Russian economy is almost completely reliant on its petrochemical industry.📉☠Much like how the Allies sped the defeat of Nazi Germany in WWII by concentrating attacks against Berlin's oil industry, Ukraine is undermining Russia's ability to continue its unprovoked invasion by systematically destroying the Kremlin's gas-based economy. Every refinery taken out of action reduces the revenue upon which Putin is so dependent to buy third-rate weapons and munitions from Iran and North Korea or electronic components for missiles from China. 🗺🔃Many strategic analysts believe the latest failed Russian offensive in Kharkiv Oblast was intended to divert Ukrainian attention away from Russia's main objective at Chasiv Yar, though that attack has also ground to a bloody halt. Since March, the Russian military has failed to capture Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast, the seizure of which the Kremlin thought might collapse Ukrainian defenses. Instead, brave Ukrainian defenders have inflicted tens of thousands of casualties on the Russian invaders, destroyed hundreds of tanks and other armored vehicles, and given up insignificant (and utterly destroyed) terrain.💥☠The latest Russian attempt to cross the large canal bisecting Chasiv Yar was another horrific failure and is indicative of the challenges Putin's invaders face in attacks against prepared Ukrainian defenses. With the arrival of promised military aid from the U.S. and other Western nations, the Ukrainians again have sufficient munitions to hold back the Kremlin's hordes. As Russia continues to suffer unsustainable casualties and exhaust its strength, Ukraine's forces are marshalling their strength to resume the offensive. 🛢📉 Putin and his cronies have deeply damaged the Russian economy through the disastrous and unprovoked invasion of neighboring Ukraine, as indicated by a recently published report from the petrochemical giant Gazprom. Due to international sanctions, reduction in European demand for Russian oil, and a reduction in available exports resulting from extensive damage caused by Ukrainian attacks against the industry, it is unlikely that Gazprom will restore its business to 2020 levels until at least 2035. Expanding business with China will not replace the business lost elsewhere and creates the conditions by which Beijing may subsume large portions of Russia's oil industry.💥☠Continued contraction of Russia's oil industry, upon which its wartime economy is largely dependent, will ultimately undermine the ability of the Kremlin to continue waging its immoral and genocidal war against Ukraine. Sanctions work and Putin is now reaping the whirlwind for the winds he sowed in invading Ukraine. Keep ratcheting up sanctions on Russia and its enablers around the world while redoubling support for Ukraine. The once "vaunted" Russian offensive in Ukraine's Kharkiv Oblast is clearly over and was an operational and strategic catastrophe, with the Kremlin's invaders suffering tens of thousands of casualties, hundreds of armored vehicles destroyed, and failed to even reach the first prepared Ukrainian defensive line. Now, Ukraine's brave defenders are pushing the occupiers out and taking considerable number of prisoners from the disillusioned Russian troops. To make matters worse, the Kremlin's failed thrust toward Kharkiv galvanized international support behind Ukraine and led to authorization by many donor countries for Ukraine to use provided weapons against legitimate military targets inside Russia. Ukraine is now pounding amassed Russian troops, equipment, and support infrastructure across the shared border.In the latest counteroffensive, Ukrainian forces captured some 60 Russian invaders as they have now liberated over 70% of Vovchansk near the border. Hundreds of Russian troops were also killed or wounded, with dozens of tanks and armored vehicles destroyed. Russian soldiers and military bloggers are constantly complaining online about the idiocy with which their troops are thrown into hopeless attacks and are getting killed and wounded at unsustainable rates. With adequate military aid from the free nations of the world, Ukraine's forces have shown themselves far superior to the poorly trained, equipped, and led Russian invaders.
