Look you went to college. You're a smart person, smart enough to know. The majority of your teachers were middling or awful, right? Do you presume that you and your circle of friends are a standard deviation or two above average? If not, then it stands to reason that taking a teaching job out of a soc program, for garbage pay, is both a terrible consolation prize for you, and a disservice to students. And yet we keep ramrodding people into that job because of this sense that industry jobs are low prestige, unethical, creepy, whatever.
