That’s the day he was taken from us, only 23 years old, called home far too soon. It’s a stark reminder that none of us knows when our time will come. #gunviolence #murder So, if you notice someone who seems distant, not returning emails, or just staring off into space, please don’t take it personally. It might not have anything to do with you; they could be battling their own internal conflict. Today, while I worked through my tasks and kept a cheerful demeanor, my mind wandered back to the cemetery. I shared with my brother that M is graduating from SMU this year, but he wasn’t there to hear it. He couldn’t celebrate with me when Bean ( John Francisco ) got waitlisted at his top two schools or be proud of his first international speaking engagement in May.These are the moments I’d love to share with my brother Kiki ( Francisco ) in person, but instead, I’m left talking to his gravestone, longing for the presence of my only sibling. I wish gun violence wouldn’t rob families like mine so frequently. Each day I keep moving forward, but the grief is a constant companion, no matter how much I try to hide it behind my work and my smile. You learn to live with grief.
