Hi there! The needles are used to weave in ends. You don't need all 6---Lion Brand just suggests you purchase a pack of them, and you can have them on hand for future projects. I hope that helps!

It is beautiful, looks wonderfully cuddly and cozy, is rated Easy and takes only 6 hours! How much better can it get?Throws, wraps and shawls are my favorite things and this one has me itching to get started. So nice that the different colors are used together plus using a 16mm hook means that it is chunky and warm and I like it so much that I will probably be making more than one!

Oh, how I wish I knew how to crochet! This throw is beautiful. Can it really be made in six hours? I don't know enough about crochet to be able to judge the time something takes. This looks so soft and cuddly. Maybe I should head over to my favorite craft store and sign up for a crochet class!

The throw is beautiful. If I want to make it wider how many stitches do I have to use to increase the size? Thank you!

This is a simple pattern and from the picture and comments I see that it's beautiful. I was wondering could this be made into a poncho. My eldest who is away at college in Rochester, NY has requested that I make a blue poncho for him with different shades of blue in it like his ripple crocheted afghan that made for him when he was younger. Now I am on the hunt for a pattern that is simple and beautiful that can is or can be easily converted into a poncho.

I have made several throws with this stitch. Beautiful! If the pattern "holes" seem too large, use a chunkier yarn. I love the Bernat blanket yarn for this. Of course you won't be able to use 3 strands but they have lovely solid colors or variegated yarn as,well.

There are two types of crochet projects that I enjoy. One is the simple pattern, like the one shown above, enjoyable and relaxing to work on at just about anytime, and the other is afghan or tunisian crochet. I enjoy embroidering patterns on the finished afghan, and again it is easy to do. Do many of you make blankets or throws using the Tunisian afghan stitch method?

Hi DanielleKathleen! You're totally right. It is so important to have both types of projects available. I am a bigger fan of simple stuff though. I find it easier to actually use and cuddle into since I don't get too worked up if something happens to it. - Kaylee, Editor of FaveCrafts

I am currently working on this and am loving it. I found a video on YouTube that covers the v-stitch. For your first working chain, if you want to make it larger than the pattern, crochet in sets of 13. So, chain 13, is it big enough, if not, chain 13 more. Repeat until you have the desired length and chain an additional 3. The 3 will serve as a double crochet stitch when you start back across. Hope this helps.

I agree with Busy Jean that 2 strands would be better. I've considered making this several times but put it off for other projects. Now that I hear how well it works up with 2 strands, I think I'll make one for my son for Christmas. Although I love the VW yarn, it's just too pricey for such small quantity on a skein. The Red Heart With Love is super soft and the skeins are large, so may go with that. Happy hooking, everyone!

It says skip 2 chains, (double crochet, chain 1, double crochet) in next chain (V-stitch made);-that means each time you skip 2 chains, the next chain, the 3rd chain from the previous one of which you made the V-stitch,would be where you make the V-stitch.In other words,a V-stitch is made by skipping 2 chains, and then double crochet, chain 1, double crochet in the next stitch, otherwise, the 3rd chain.Which means you are in every other 3rd chain from the previous V-stitch made. The purpose of skipping 2 chains, and then double crochet, chain 1, double crochet,is so there is a hole that is shaped like a V.You are not making a V-stitch in every chain in the 2nd row in each chain-1 space across.

I too hate it when there is an error in the pattern. The 5 skein each color is probably right as VC yarn is 170 yards per skein. I might opt for another type yarn, such as pound of love & two more of whatever sparked my fancy at the moment. You could also consider one of the pre-textured yarns such as RH Fiesta & just triple up on it. Tangled yarn should not be a problem if you center pull & keep them on ends. Stuff them in a plastic coffee can if you have a problem with them "wandering".

I started to post a comment and something messed up and it went through when I wasn't ready so I don't know what got entered or if it made sense I hope you don't use that one I've made three of these afghans and really like them but I made minor changes to the pattern I thought strands of yarn would make it too heavy and expensive I used just two strands of worsted weight yarn and a P hook for two of them and a N hook for the other It depends on how thick the yarn is and how big you want the holes to be I also crocheted more than the stitches to make it wider maybe with the strands it makes it bigger I don't know I used yarn I had and they were four ounce skeins and I had a little left over from skeins TwoRead More of the afghans I used four skeins each as that was all I had and it turned out fine Depends how large you want your afghan to be It's a good way to use up yarn you have on hand and it makes a nice tweed look I don't think I would want to use three strands when I see how nice these were with the strands

The V-stitch takes 3 stitches. The beginning of the 1st row takes 5 chains and the end of the row takes 2 chains, so the pattern is a multiple of 3 stitches + 7 stitches for the beginning and end. On a short repeat like this one where the pattern starts in the first row, you can just chain the width you want it to be, then untie any unused chains at the end of the first row.

Darcy 7 In this case a skein is a ball. As the pattern refers to "balls" and it is talking about Vanna's Couice. In other patterns a ball is how many yarns come and it is usually in a 50 g ball. Some balls are 25 g. etc. However, a regular skein of 1.75 oz equals a 50 g ball. a larger skein of 3.5 oz is the same weight as a 100 g ball. Hope this helps you.
